Job description
My client are a leading construction services provider with a multifaceted business acrossTraffic Control, Crane Hire and more. This company prides itself on delivering high-quality solutions across various construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Now seeking a skilled and experienced Management Accountant to join a dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, with a focus on payroll management under the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), as well as project and job costing. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial integrity of our operations and supporting strategic decision-making

The Role

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
  • Payroll Management
    • Manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments under the EBA.
    • Monitor compliance with payroll regulations and update payroll processes as necessary.
    • Liaise with HR and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues.
    • Prepare payroll reports and analyses for management review.
  • Project and Job Costing:
    • Develop and maintain accurate job costing systems for various construction projects.
    • Analyze project costs, monitor budgets, and track financial performance against projections.
    • Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and recommendations for cost control.
    • Prepare and present detailed cost reports to senior management.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.
    • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • General Accounting:
    • Reconcile accounts, including general ledger, bank statements, and other financial records.
    • Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable functions as needed.
    • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance department.

The Person

The ideal candidate will join bringing the following skills and previous experiences:
  • CPA/CA qualification (or working towards) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, particularly under EBA.
  • Proven experience with project/job costing and financial analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
