Job description
My client, an established HVAC specialist providing services to the construction industry across commercial building and healthcare related projects have asked me to assist them in sourcing an experienced, Senior HVAC Estimator to join their existing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for HVAC projects, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to develop cost-effective solutions
  • Work closely with the design teams & clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and timelines
  • Conduct site visits to gather essential project information and evaluate potential risks
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate terms
  • Maintain an updated database of costs, materials, and labour rates
  • Provide input on value engineering, cost-saving strategies, and alternative solutions
  • Support contract negotiations and contribute to the overall success of the bidding process
  • Act as a point of escalation & guidance to more junior members of the team
Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC/mechanical estimating, preferably in a design & construct environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC design, installation, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam/Groundplan/SimPro) and Excel; experience with CAD or BIM is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering accurate estimates
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
  • Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred
