Position: Zoologist
Location: Perth, WA
Salary: $70K $140k + super

As a Zoologist with our client, a leading environmental consultancy in Australia, you'll focus on office-based tasks including analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. The role involves leading state-wide zoological surveys, conducting species and habitat assessments, and preparing technical reports to inform environmental assessments. Your expertise in wildlife biology and conservation will drive informed decisions to support environmental protection and biodiversity management.. Our client is also hiring experienced Botanists. Canididates may be considered for a range of positions including consultantants, leads, seniors and principals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading zoological surveys across the State, including targeted wildlife and species habitat surveys, and subsequent species identification and behaviour studies.
- Preparing detailed technical reports, including species assessments, habitat evaluations, and conservation recommendations to support environmental referrals and assessments.
- Travel throughout the state for field surveys, often in remote locations, while maintaining work/life balance.
- Conducting species-specific ecology surveys and monitoring endangered or at-risk species.
- Stay up-to-date with zoological, ecological, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Apply expert knowledge to make technical decisions and provide innovative solutions for wildlife conservation and habitat protection.

Key Criteria:
- Degree qualification in environmental science, ecology, or zoology
- Significant experience consulting as a zoologist or environmental scientist, preferably within Western Australia.
- Current driver’s licence (C class), manual preferred.
- Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
- Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a team.
- Proven experience in supervising junior team members, with the ability to mentor and taking a leading role in field surveys.
- Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.
