My client, one of Victoria’s leading D&C fire protection contracting businesses, are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead their design team in delivering cutting-edge fire protection solutions. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of wet fire systems, ensuring compliance with Australian building codes, fire regulations, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and documentation of wet fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, and pumps.
- Ensure designs are compliant with local fire codes, standards (e.g., AS2118, AS2419), and client requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Conduct technical reviews, manage the approval process, and liaise with authorities for design certification.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior design engineers and technicians.
- Ensure team members’ CPD is a priority.
- Maintain awareness of relevant emerging technologies and identify areas in which it could be brought in to improve efficiencies at the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience in wet fire protection design, preferably within the Australian market.
- Proficiency in fire protection design software (Revit , AutoCAD, Hyena).
- In-depth knowledge of Australian fire protection standards and building codes.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
