Position: Senior Environmental Advisor – Approvals 
Location: Sydney / Brisbane 
Salary: $120K - $140K + super  


About the Role:  
As a Senior Environmental Consultant with our client, a lead in the Environmental Industry across Australia, you'll focus on office-based tasks including analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, specialising in impact assessments and approval compliance. Responsibilities include leading state-wide intrusive investigations, conducting site inspections, and preparing technical reports for environmental assessments. Your role will utilise expertise in compliance and approval guidance to inform decisions and solutions. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Undertaking due diligence / risk assessments (submitted as Impact Assessment Requests) of operational maintenance and projects and advise of requirements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Supporting drafting and development of Native Vegetation Clearing Permits, referrals and other environmental approvals from DWER (Department of Water and Environmental Regulation)
  • Collecting and reviewing approvals compliance information
  • The delivery of high-quality approval applications and technical reports to support environmental and planning approval requirements
  • Prepare proposals, referral and approval documentation
  • Schedule, budget and project management.
  • Liaison with subcontractors and clients.
  • Work closely with State and Commonwealth regulatory agencies.

Key Criteria: 

  • Degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline, zoology  
  • Significant experience consulting experience as an environmental scientist / Advisor within the compliance and approvals sector.  
  • Current drivers’ licence (c class), manual preferred. 
  • 6+ years experience in various environmental services.
  • Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a team. 
  • Proven experience in supervision of junior team members, with the ability to mentor, and taking a leading role in field surveys. 
  • Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.
